Statement
Davide Ghelli Santuliana is an artistic researcher working with sound, moving images, and improvised live performances. He currently carries out his practice under the moniker KTONIOS.
He uses a combination of modular synthesizers and self-built software patches (using MAX/Msp) to reflect on the subversive qualities of loops. The artist deconstructs traditional Southern Italian music, drawing from preexisting materials such as archival recordings, films and online clips, and reconstructs them into a soundscape that merges noise, techno, ambient and concrete music.
In his research, Davide Ghelli Santuliana is interested in the magic-ritualistic tradition of Southern Italy as an example of collective care, in opposition to the individualism and fragmentation of late capitalism.
